Ego Is the Enemy

Ryan Holiday · 2016 · 226 pages

2 people have this book on the record — 1 of 2 verdicts positive. The dissent stays on the page.

This message is crucial, but the opposite of almost every other book. I wish everyone would read this. I need to re-read it each year. It's that important. It's easy to read this and say “oh yeah I've got my ego under control”, but the problem is deeper…

Podcast. At every point in your life, your ego is the enemy. You know this, I hope, but we all need this reminder to get back to earth.

That little bar

It says how long ago something was said, so you can tell last month from 2014 without doing the arithmetic. Full and green is recent; it drains and cools as the date gets older, and empties completely at about 6 years.

A striped bar means the date itself is an estimate — the source did not carry an exact one. An entry with no date at all gets no bar.
