Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less

Greg McKeown · 2014 · 272 pages

2 people have this book on the record — 1 of 2 verdicts positive. The dissent stays on the page.

The bar next to each date shows how long ago it was said: 6d is days, 4yr is years.

Make no mistake — as any self-help book, this too could be shortened to a medium-sized blog post. Somewhat ironic. Yet, it’s a pleasant read, filled with interesting stories and references. In an ongoing battle with the complexities of systems, life and work, I found this book deeply calming.

It's never been easier to fill your life with things, tasks, and activities. Essentialism is a super-actionable break down of how to take control of your life and focus on what really matters. Whether you need more balance in your life, or focus in your work, this book will help you. It has helped me think a lot more about my priorities in life and how to get them.

That little bar

It says how long ago something was said, so you can tell last month from 2014 without doing the arithmetic. Full and green is recent; it drains and cools as the date gets older, and empties completely at about 6 years.

A striped bar means the date itself is an estimate — the source did not carry an exact one. An entry with no date at all gets no bar.
