Not the End of the World

So maybe in keeping with that, I really like Hannah Ritchie's book, Not the End of the World. She has a newer book, but this one's from 2024 and I still like it very much. The subtitle is something like how we can be the first generation to build a sustainable planet. It's an optimistic take on climate, which is of course usually full of doom and gloom stories, so I really liked it for that reason.

His life and work have influenced my own tremendously—and just a few pages into Ritchie’s essential and hopeful new book, Not the End of the World: How We Can Be the First Generation to Build a Sustainable Planet, it became clear that she was carrying on his tremendous legacy.

What struck me the most about both of these was the strength and pervasiveness of the media bias towards negativity, and how fervently people want to continue believing in downfall of all that is good and the intrinsic evil of modernity, even when faced with clear evidence otherwise.
