The Goal

The bar next to each date shows how long ago it was said: 6d is days, 4yr is years.

Written in the '80s, yet a timeless novel on what management is about, may that be a manager of a team, an organization or an industrial plant.

If you're tired of the average business book following the Lesson – Case Study – Lesson – Case Study format, this book is a breath of fresh air. It's a novel that talks about how a guy turned around a factory and saved his marriage. It's a bit longer than I'd like, but it was a nice change of pace. However, the main lesson is simple: focus on your company's goal of making money and fix your bottlenecks.

That little bar

It says how long ago something was said, so you can tell last month from 2014 without doing the arithmetic. Full and green is recent; it drains and cools as the date gets older, and empties completely at about 6 years.

A striped bar means the date itself is an estimate — the source did not carry an exact one. An entry with no date at all gets no bar.
